My body is catching up with my past.
Maybe my body is just aging. I have noticed some changes, and I am not happy with them. First is my squattie, frumpier look. I don't mind the gray hair so much, but I do the gut and the wiggly arms.
I also notice that my energy leaves me quicker. I get out of breath vacuuming! I hear my heart beat in my ears.
I also am a junk food lover. Mainly chocolate. Yum yum! I have to have it every day, and I suspect I'm an addict.
But, I am also a lifelong exerciser. Since I could walk I walked all around. I love to swim too, having grown up at the coast. I have for many years had a teeny weight problem, perhaps 5-10 pounds overweight, but I still walked or took aerobics.
I jogged for about 10 years too and enjoyed 5K runs.
Last year when my youngest child was home with me, I had a silent goal of getting back in shape. We walked several times a week, often 3 miles. Our pace varied, slow, fast, whatever. And I didn't get in shape! How's that? I ended the school year looking the same. Maybe I had more gray hairs. Every once in a while I'd feel a bigger fit in the clothes. But then I'd make Oatmeal Cookies and eat too many. They are so yummy! Think they help with the cholesterol count? Hah.
So it's a new school year, and I once again have the same goal: I wish to have the energy and look of my 30's. (I left them, oh, several years ago). My youngest is in a preK program for 3 hours 5 days a week, and I wait for her in town rather than use up my gas.
I go to Lake Wailles in Lake Wales, FL. It's a 2 1/4 mile trail and it's nice.
This is it in the photo. I get there about 9:15, after I drop Student #4 off. I started with a walk, and a few spurts of running in between. I would describe my first week as Gasp, Lurch, and Cramp.
I'm on week #2 now. I don't notice much in the way of my stomach shrinking, but little by little I gasp less and I don't lurch or cramp. I walk about half the way and jog, slowly, the rest. I stretch afterwards.
Future blogs will discuss my measurements, sneakers, how to exercise without a gym, and whatever else crosses my mind.
See you soon!
